It’s all fun and games on Twitter until a celebrity trolls another celebrity; then it’s absolute chaos, mayhem and also very joyous when everyone chips in on all the fun. These days, PSL is the most talked about topic these days within Pakistani Twitter, with memes, playful mocking, opinions and a sense of unison has gripped the media platform by its horns. Ali Zafar too was celebrating the zesty tournament, as we all were – but then did something a wee bit frivolous by calling out Imran Khan for not the best reason…
It all began when Imran Khan was out and about tweeting his routine, topical matters about politics yesterday (nothing new, really)
As if Sharifs' & Dar's crime of money laundering & corruption had not taken enough of a toll on the country's economy, the disastrous policies of Dar have led to the rapid fall of rupee value over the last few months, piling up the mountain of external debt for Pakistani nation
— Imran Khan (@ImranKhanPTI) March 20, 2018
Ali Zafar rather oddly picked up the tweet and trolled the politician for not participating in the PSL excitement on Twitter
The singer appreciated his ‘efforts for the country’ but condemned Imran Khan for not ‘participat[ing] in the joy and sentiment of the country,’ being a ‘cricket hero’ himself.
Sir, we do love you for your efforts for the country but perhaps “timing” on issues matters? On a day nation celebrates cricket we do expect you (as our cricket hero) to appreciate, if not participate in the joy and sentiment of the country that comes with cricket coming home 🙂 https://t.co/7RGDkVb4VU

It backfired immensely though because Imran Khan had already issued a statement supporting PSL

Oh dear
Naturally, Ali Zafar was trolled in turn…
This shows your disconnect with what is happening outside entertainment. Imran khan is a politician. Dollar surge to 115 today. That is why he is talking about it. Imran khan is not just a cricketing hero he is a politician, philanthropist and educationalist.

Nonsense Ali. He's a leader, he has better things to do (for example voicing his concerns over the country's failing economy) than commenting on T20 leagues.

With many pointing out Imran’s official statement that he made on PSL
He did that too @AliZafarsays pic.twitter.com/x8smQLRGTQ

Some correctly couldn’t understand Ali’s point on ‘timing’ (yeah, we don’t get it either Ali tbh)
Bruh delete this. He shouldn't talk about economy cuz there is a cricket match on? What???

IK talks about real issues. Don’t belittle yourself by making PSL a common man issue.

While everyone was having psl opening ceremony u were promoting teefa in trouble then n there. U remember that Right?
Cant blame others.
Its all about priorities— M i r (@MYUwrites) March 20, 2018
Many commended the politician for his continual, unfailing efforts to bring change to the country
Ali Zafar with huge respect kindly don try to pull politics in the Cricket.
IK is now a politician that means he can only spitt negativity for other parties and he is doing his job well 👍🏼 hats off sir IK you are playing well for anti Pakistan agencies 😜— Muhammad Owais 🇵🇰 (@owaisdhedhi) March 20, 2018
…And focusing on issues larger at hand
It's called TUNNEL VISION…there are bigger issues for Pakistan than Cricket Ali…and perhaps our HERO @ImranKhanPTI knows better!

Oh snap
This isn’t the first time a singer lashed out at the politician and was in turn subjected to the immense backlash – Quratulain Baloch called him an asshole and received immense recoil earlier in the year.
What are your thoughts on what Ali said? Is he justified?
