Ever since India increased their military presence in Kashmir, and then subsequently scrapped Article 370 which granted the region special status, people on our side of the border have been extremely upset. Pakistanis immediately rallied with Kashmir and its people and showed their solidarity on social media.

However, not a lot of influential people raised their voice about it. Besides some Pakistani celebrities speaking up, people are disappointed at influential people, including Pakistani politicians for not being serious over Kashmir’s cause.

People started asking why Malala hadn’t issued a statement in support of Kashmir soon after India’s abrogation of Article 370

Malala has 1.4 million followers on Twitter which include a lot of influential people around the world.

Since she’s the youngest Nobel Peace Prize winner, the world tends to pay attention to what Malala says which is why (I assume) some Pakistanis were upset that she hadn’t spoken up about the Kashmir issue

And then Malala finally issued a statement on Twitter in solidarity with the people of Kashmir

She wrote a heartfelt note about how she worried the violence would have the worst impact on the women and children. And she asked the international community to step in and help solve the humanitarian crisis.

And Pakistanis were incredibly happy at seeing her statement

For once, Pakistani people actually being appreciative of Malala is such a breath of fresh air tbh.

But of course, once you appease certain people on the internet, you must suffer the wrath of another faction and that’s exactly what happened with Malala’s statement

As soon as Malala posted this statement, Indians were enraged and attacked her.

There is truly no such thing as pleasing everyone. And as for her detractors and those throwing insults her way virtually; please remember Malala took a bullet to the head and not only survived but thrived. Your words will do nothing to her.
