The answer lies in the staggering statistics: Globally, about 1 in 10 people fall ill from contaminated food, with 40% of these cases affecting children under the age of 5. Shockingly, unsafe food claims 420,000 lives annually, highlighting the urgent need for preventive measures. Moreover, foodborne illnesses tend to peak in summer due to warmer temperatures, making proactive measures even more crucial.
In response to these challenges, FAO has initiated various programs and campaigns to promote food safety awareness.
