“No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” -Nelson Mandela
Political relations between India and Pakistan haven’t been all that great over the last few months to say the least. From Pakistan’s perspective, there’s a lot to be angry about; India’s violation of human rights with regards to Kashmiris, Modi’s ignorant border policies, Shiv Sena’s ridiculous and outrageous antics, RAW’s possible connection to Baloch separatists – the list goes on, but I’m sure you get the idea.
We have to admit that we haven’t been guilty of a few excursions ourselves.
With hate levels at an all time high, Mumbaikar Ram Subramanian started a campaign, ‘Profile for Peace’, in India to show Pakistanis that not all Indians hate Pakistan. And that an entire population should not be judged based on the actions of a few individuals. Of all the people in the world, that’s something we Pakistanis should understand pretty well.
And it wasn’t just Ram, a lot of people from all over India joined in to express their amicable emotions for their neighbor.

And so, people from all over Pakistan decided to jump in and return the love. Us included.

This campaign isn’t about the wrongs each country has done. It’s recognizing the positives in each other so that we can start moving away from the generations-old hatred that has been detrimental to the progress of both countries.
