With the Pakistani cinema industry on the rise, more and more movies are surfacing. With Verna just having released earlier this week, people are still in the process of accepting Pakistani films.
And to join the rankings of movies coming out, we see social media sensation Neelam Munir’s latest film’s poster come out
Check out the official poster of #ChupanChupai – A film by Mohsin Ali and Zayd Sheikh!
Ahsan Khan and Neelum Muneer are looking stunning as always! #Savethedate #29Dec #Humspotlight pic.twitter.com/pJR2UmjaVR— HUM TV (@Humtvnetwork) November 20, 2017
‘Chupan Chupai’ is slated to be a comedy thriller about a young man looking to make a quick buck
The film also stars veteran actor Ahsan Khan in the lead, along with Adnan Jaffer, and industry greats the likes of Talat Hussain, Arshad Mahmood, Sakina Samo and Javed Sheikh.
However, one of the things that struck us about the movie’s poster was the audience’s reactions
People were quick to point out Neelam’s ‘immorality’
And didn’t spare a second to post vile comments underneath
There were people drawing parallels to porn stars
And apparent disappointment at Neelam’s attire
There was this comment…
And this one too…
People were leaving some things to imagination
And the hashtag #MeriFamilyIskoNaParhein
Some people also wanted a bare midriff
And, umm, this suggestion to rename the film
And finally this tabsara on the film’s cast
The thing is, that with the increasing use of social media, we don’t allow actors and actresses room to breathe, anymore. We’re very quick to point fingers at and slut-shame women, for no apparent reason. Just like people are doing with Chupan Chupai, nobody waits for the movie to actually judge an actor’s ability. Instead, we focus more on what they’re wearing, what they’re doing, who they’re doing it with. Guess we could all do with giving other people just a bit of space.
