Coke Studio, arguably the most popular music show to come out of Pakistan, recently announced all the artists that will be a part of its new season. People will get to watch a number of new artists along with some established names that are sure to surprise us, and the world at large.
This season has been branded as ‘Sound of the Nation’ and is set to release on 16th August 2015, with a bang. To all those wanting to listen to some fresh Pakistani music, the time has finally come.

While some of the artists have been to Coke Studio before, there are certainly some who are a welcome addition to the show. Here are the ones we’re looking forward to:
1. Ali Sethi
Najam Sethi’s son who has previously sung a number of ghazals and finally made it to the latest addition of Coke Studio. This is one artist that truly deserved to be on the show and we can’t wait to hear him sing. What’s more? He’s a Harvard grad who is trained in Hindustani classical music.

2. Gul Panrra
Gul Pannra is a Pashto singer and has been active since 2010. This girl seems promising and and it will be interesting to see the vocal abilities of Gul Pannra along with other established names from the music industry of Pakistan. Also, is it just us or does she look a lot like Anushka Sharma!

3. Malang Party
This band has also made it to this season and frankly we’re a bit surprised because their kind of rock music hasn’t really been on the show before. But trust Coke Studio to come up with surprisingly good work so it would be interesting to see how they bring something new to the latest season.

4. Ustad Hamid Ali Khan
Undoubtedly one of the gems who has made immense contributions to the music of Pakistan. While this maestro has previously collaborated with a number of people, it would surely be interesting to see how he brings up something new to this season of Coke Studio.

5. Sara Raza Khan
She is one of the names that has long been known to all the Pakistanis owing to her appearance on the Indian TV program Sur Ksethra. Having finally made it to the floor of Coke Studio is certainly a great achievement for her.

6. Umair Jaswal
With his crisp vocals and passionate singing, Umair Jaswal certainly has what it takes to take any season of Coke Studio to new heights. Previously singing Charkha Nolakha along with Atif Aslam and making it one of the masterpieces of the show, the artist has also been instrumental in grooming the new Pakistani talent at various music festivals around Pakistan for a number of years now.

7. Ali Haider
The inclusion of Ali Haider in the show is a welcome step by the producers of Coke Studio. The artist had been out of the music scene for a while now and it sure is going to be refreshing to see the singer of Purani Jeans Aur Guitar finally land up in this season of Coke Studio.

8. Shazia Manzoor
A Lahore based musician who sings mostly Punjabi music, Shazia Manzoor has sung some classics of modern Pakistani music including Aaja Soniya, Mahi Aavega, Mayi Ne Kinnu Akhan, Chan Mere Makhna and Dhol Mahia among others. The collaboration of this artist with other talented musicians of the country is certainly to look out for.

9. Mekaal Hasan Band
This is the first time Mekaal Hasan Band will come to Coke Studio. The credit goes to Strings for ensuring the inclusion of Mekaal Hassan Band in this season of Coke Studio. The band has been giving some very noticeable performances both locally as well as internationally.We’ll have to wait for what they have up their sleeves this time around.
