It was a close call between ketchup and awkward eye contact but the latter won taking 51% of the total votes.
Since so many of you are fond of awkward eye contact, here’s a compilation of all the times we’ve had to face this bittersweet phenomenon:
1. When you answer the door bell and the bin bulaye mehmaan are standing RIGHT THERE.
Great, now you’d have to sit through all the non sense on top of serving them tea. There goes your evening.
2. When you meet your teachers outside of school premises.
A-s-s-a-l-u-mo-a-l-a-i-kum madam?
3. When the principal asks “ye teacher kesa perhati hein?” and the teacher in question is standing right there, giving you the look.
Ab mein kahoon tou kya kahoon…
4. When you run into the famous rishtay wali aunty at a wedding.
Aunty, kabhi tou bakhsh dein?
5. The manhoos cameray walay uncle that focuses on your face while you are stuffing your face with muft ki biryani
Dafa hotay ho ke mein joota utaarun?
6. Your ex, anywhere and everywhere.
Zindagi ki bohot barri azmaaish.

7. When you spot that random uncle at every gathering who is known for asking the dreaded question, “pehchana mein kaun hoon?”

8. When you’re randomly existing in the drawing room with the potential husband candidate on the first meeting.
So…do you like bread?
9. Phupho.

10. When you’re hanging out at the cafe with your friends from the opposite gender and your religious relative appears out of nowhere.
Uncle ji, woh kehte hein na…sub musalmaan behen bhai hein?
11. When your sibling asks who ate their leftover food and you’re like…not me. Nope.
Mein tou kal raat kamray mein jaatay saath sogaya tha.
12. When you crack a dirty joke around your parents hoping they won’t understand but THEY DO and then you don’t know where to look.

13. That awkward moment when your friend calls with some juicy gossip and you can’t fully participate in the conversation because you’re surrounded by family.
Yes…no…NO FRIGGIN’ WAY. Omg. Really? I can’t believe that bit—behooda bandi.
14, When you’re watching a movie with your parents and the actors start getting “chummy”
Let me just stare at my toes for no obvious reason.
15. When you swear at your siblings during a fight and the parents overhear.
16. When you’re married for like 30 seconds and people start inquiring “khush khabri kub de aayegi?”
