Monsoon season in Pakistan is one of the most intense months of rain for the country, and just like clockwork, the heavy rains came to Lahore last night and have been washing the city ever since.
Monsoon season begins in country from tomorrow.
Rain and thundershower with gusty winds is continuing in different parts of the country. All provincial administrations have directed their relief agencies and departments to remain alert during the monsoon.

Unfortunately, unlike the other rains Lahore has been experiencing lately, it seems as if this onset of Barsaat has been quite dangerous.

Since the rain started last night, it has been reported that at least 6 people have died due to the heavy rain.

The rain has made it nearly impossible for people to leave their homes, as many of the main roads have been completely flooded with heavy rain water.
A least six people were reported to have been #killed in #rain related incidents in different areas of #Lahore. Lahore has received 170 millimeter #rainfall during the last 24 hours. God bless us all#Disaster#MoonSoon#Flood

And for those brave enough to swim into the unknown, it has not been easy.
So we have several offices on 6th and 8th floor of a building in Gulberg Lahore. There's so much rain that all the office boys are going crazy clearing up the water seeping in from the windows. Only 8 people have turned up out of 80!

#DHALahore nightmare drive through the area with the newly constructed Road and flyover and underpass. Can't handle the rain. Underpass was closed, presumably flooded. Roads too flooded. 15 min journey took an hour. Design flaw? Poor quality execution?

No mechanism is devised to save rain water till the date. Constantly raining from last night and two more days to go as per weather forecast. Lahore has partially sunk and our dams are short of water. Alomost… https://t.co/THRelQwBxD

And after Shehbaz Sharif’s announced his wish to turn ‘Lahore into Paris,’ people took to Twitter to talk about how ‘Paris became Venice.’

Suffice to say, the rain is driving everyone pretty crazy.
And with no end of the rain currently in sight, all we can do at this point is stay safe and stay alert for any kind of flooding in our homes and workspaces (if you managed to swim your way over.)
Record broken of rain fall in decades. Praying that everyone is doing okay and is safe. https://t.co/Ib6Ce0BtcS
