Through its #SaafDestinations initiative, Destinations Pakistan is on a mission to ensure urgent climate action, while simultaneously paving the way for sustainable tourism. Striving for a systemic change through their ground-breaking original content and on-ground initiatives, these guys are one of the very few, or maybe the only ones who not only bring the most compelling stories and uncover Pakistan’s cultural and natural hidden gems but actively pursue the goal of promoting sustainable and responsible tourism.

In a recent video they shared on the visiting flamingos in Lake Ucchali, Soon Valley, they urged tourists to be mindful that they don’t disturb the birds and to care for the ecosystem. People not only appreciated the captivating video but also ignited a thought-provoking conversation on sustainable tourism, trending the hashtag #SaafDestinations. Our celebs also joined the invigorating conversation!

The way we treat our environment is reflective of our society. It is now no longer a choice, but a matter of survival that we save our environment. Tourism is only possible if the destinations are preserved and protected, and biodiversity is sustained. The tourism economy will only benefit if there are destinations to visit, and more and more people, rather generations can enjoy the experience.

We need to change our behaviors as tourists towards responsible tourism so that not only are preserving but contributing to the destinations and its people. The pandemic has brought home the importance of our environment. Add climate change challenges and we have one hot dish we need to cool off very quickly.

The survival of Pakistan is tourism and climate action, both of which Destinations Pakistan is doing. We not only need to appreciate and applaud the efforts of organizations like Destinations Pakistan, who are continuously striving for a systemic change through their ground-breaking original content and on-ground initiatives, but also join in their efforts!
