Geo TV and Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar are having a huge confrontation right now

After his unacceptable behavior towards Pakistani journalist, Marvi Sirmed, Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar has been subjected to a lot of criticism. His consistent disrespect of women forced people to raise their voices against him. Even showbiz celebrities didn’t shy away from calling him out.

 

In light of recent issues, Geo TV issued an official statement suspending contracts of four drama serials and a movie that had been signed with Khalil Ur Rehman Qamar

 

The announcement states that Khalil Ur Rehman’s indecent behavior is incongruent with the channel’s motto of geo aur jeenay do. The statement explains that the contract will remain suspended until Khalil Ur Rehman apologizes for being indecent and crossing his boundaries to express his opinions. The channel has taken this decision due to his inability to accept his mistake, let alone apologize for publicly abusing a woman.

 

Interestingly, Khalil Ur Rehman has responded back to Geo TV’s statement saying that he himself ‘canceled’ his contract

From what seems to be his real account, Khalil Ur Rehman has mentioned that he is fortunate to sacrifice for a ‘noble’ cause and that he will never work for Geo TV ever again. Khalil Ur Rehman has stated that he is demanded an apology to ‘satisfy’ few funded feminists and to defend their shameless slogans. He has assured his fans that he takes this as a great opportunity and submits to the will of Allah by canceling his contract and promises never to work for the institution in the future.

Whatever the truth may be regarding who suspended the contract, it’s a relief that a stand is taken against the prevailing misogyny and that Khalil ur Rehman might finally be getting what he deserves, in the form of a jeopardized career.
