You may have heard of chai addiction but did you know what life is like for a green tea addict? Green tea is like the critically loved indie film as opposed to regular chai which is the commercial movie with not much substance but a lot of glamour. Only a true Green tea connoisseur knows how deliciously refreshing the drink is. If availability allows, one would have it all day every day.
Here are the struggles of a green tea addict:
1. You have to face people who think you are a snob.
Green tea ka naam le lo sahi and they look at you as if you’re trying to act all fancy for not drinking plain ol’ chai.
2. Or on diet all the time.
Sure it’s ‘healthy’ but I don’t have to be looking to drop 10 pounds if I love me some of that refreshing green stuff.
But no yeah, it’s definitely healthier 😉
3. There aren’t many options of good quality green tea in the market.
You sometimes have to make do with sourcing your green tea from saat sarhad paar.
4. Finding your tea brand makes you feel like you’re on a rishta hunt.
You sample many candidates until you finally settle down on your favorite one.
Personally, while I love, love, love me the loose leaf tea variety, for a quick and easy green tea fix nothing beats the Lipton Green tea, particularly the Lemon flavor.
5. You hate it when people add sugar to green tea.
Are you kidding me? The whole point of consuming anything is to savor its own flavor and by putting in sugar you’re just masking the amazing original flavor. Not to forget, killing all it’s good characteristics.
6. Or worse, milk.
WHAT KIND OF ANIMAL EVEN ADDS MILK TO GREEN TEA?
7. But you love a little splash of lemon juice or elaichi in your green tea. Sometimes.
Yes, only sometimes. It’s okay to be adventurous with your green tea with its natural companions that sometimes enhance its flavor. Sometimes.
8. People don’t realize but you’re as addicted to having green tea every few hours as they are to chai.
Oh yes. You’ve got to have your steaming hot mug every few hours or you start feeling like you’re empty and life is pointless.
9. If you miss having your daily dose sometimes, it feels like your day has been incomplete.
10. You may or may not carry around your green tea because you know not every place offers it like they do chai.
Green tea addicts demand equal treatment, chai ke sath favoritism khatam kiya jae.
11. You are very particular about the water temperature and method of making your green tea.
To enjoy the full flavor (and benefits) of green tea, it has to be at simmering hot not boiling hot.
12. You have your favorite mug to drink your green tea from and don’t completely enjoy if you have to drink it from anything else.
13. You crave it all day until you have that first sip of your green tea, because now you know everything’s good in the world.
Not really, but you know, green tea makes everything better.
