Beautiful, pore-free skin doesn’t come free. You gotta work for it which is super hard if you’re working on a 9 to 5 routine. Attaining that striking, kissable, supple, baby’s bottom skin takes a lot of blood, sweat and tears! Alright, not really but it’s vital to stick to a rigid skin care routine, and we cannot stress this enough.
So, get ready to change your skincare rituals to get the skin of the gods. Here are 11 routine tips you have to start adopting from today to start that trek to effortlessly getting that gorgeous skin. And the best part? You don’t have to take out a lot of time from your busy schedule.
1. Use Green tea as a toner
We are all aware how antioxidants are really beneficial for our skin and how abundantly they are present in green tea.Use it instead of your toner on a regular basis. Just freeze freshly brewed green tea for this purpose. Take the ice cube out and rub gently on your skin. It will give you a refreshing feel and benefit your skin as well.
2. Wipe off wrinkles from your face with this mask made from Lemon and Honey.
Mix one tablespoon of organic raw honey and half a squeezed lemon in to a bowl and apply all over your face, avoiding the eye area. Now, let your skin soak up all this delicious goodness for at least half an hour. Wash away with warm water, finishing with one splash of cold water to close your pores.
Pat gently with a towel to dry. Let your skin breathe for the rest of the day if you’re at home, or follow up with your regular morning routine.
3. Invest in the ultimate 3 in 1 solution.
Nobody has time to independently buy a face wash, mask and scrub but with the latest Garnier 3 in 1 formula, you can get a one step solution. And with eucalyptus and white clay extracts, your skin will thank you!
For face wash, use everyday on wet skin to help intensely cleanse and purify the skin, remove excess sebum and protect against spots.
As a scrub, massage into forehead, chin and nose to help remove dead skin cells and unclog pores.
Using it as a mask 1 to 2 times a week, you can even the skin tone and mattify the skin with application lasting anywhere between 1 to 3 minutes depending on your skin type.
4. Oil cleanse with Castor oil and Olive oil.
Mix castor oil with olive oil in a bowl until both have merged together. Massage on the face in a circular motion for around a minute and then get a clean towel, soak it under hot water, rinse it and place it over your face. The steam will remove the oils and any impurities too. It’s a great, relaxing method.
NOTE – you might get an adjustment period where your face might breakout, but it’ll be worth it once it’s over. See below for different skin types.
5. Always put sunscreen on after your morning cleanse
Sunscreen is an essential, especially to protect from the harmful toxins that linger in Pakistani air. Always carry one with you and entwine it into your makeup routine. It also prevents ageing because it forms a barrier against U.V. rays.
6. Use haldi not just in your curries but also on your face
Sundays are the perfect time to get a little messy. If you’ve got wrinkles, dark circles, acne, hair growth, then grub up your face like the Mughals used to do with a haldi face mask.
Once you’re up, add one egg white, two drops of olive oil, some squirts of lemon juice and rose water with two teaspoons of haldi and amalgamate it all in a bowl. Apply it on your face and leave until it’s hardened. Wash it off with warm water and opt for an oil like jojoba instead of a cream to moisturize, afterward.
7. Use Jojoba oil for acne and blemishes.
This multi-purpose oil moisturizes all skin types and is particularly useful for nourishing dry skin, and skin prone to acne breakouts and helps fade breakouts too.
Use it as a nighttime moisturizer and massage it into your skin once you’ve washed it. It is widely available at every local pharmacy.
8. Stay away from anything that includes the f word… “fair”
It’s been proven that fairness creams cause significant long term damage. So let’s just keep this one short – stay away from them fairness creams.
9. Make up the right way, with a clean sponge every day and always take it off before bed
Not removing makeup and failing to cleanse skin each night can lead to breakouts. Make up doesn’t affect the skin as long as you’re using a clean sponge.
10. Use Castor oil for eyebrows and eyelashes
I apply mascara pretty much everyday, and when I’m taking it off at night I see the odd few eyelashes falling off too (RIP). I dab a bit of castor oil on top before bed and not only has it sped up growth, it’s also made them much thicker and longer!
I grew out my eyebrows too (to get in with the whole thick look) and castor oil was the catalyst behind it. It made them thicker and also darkened them into a wonderful deep dark brown.
11. But most of all, for a healthy skin – Eat clean
Treat your body like a temple. Don’t congest it with junk – once in a while is fine but don’t overdo it. Nourish it with good foods and you’ll notice remarkable changes in not only how your skin looks but also how you feel internally.
