I had heard a lot about K-beauty – Korean skincare and makeup – which at this point has honestly taken over the world. I was genuinely curious about the products ever since I started seeing my favorite beauty YouTubers make videos about using the 12-step Korean skincare routine or just reviewing K-Beauty products in general.

Apparently, K-Beauty has something for everything and their skincare can make all your skin problems disappear. I reached out to a local company Mimo by M, and they made an entire skincare routine specifically for my skin type. They have preset skincare routines and what products to use on their website depending on your skin type.

And since I have dry skin I needed a whole lotta moisturizing action and that is exactly what I got.

My skin isn’t too problematic, I get pimples when I am PMSing but that’s about it. Usually, I don’t have to worry too much about pimples but the discoloration remains long after the pimples are gone.

So for my new Korean skincare routine, I had a toner, a cleansing foam, an oil, a moisturizing cream, and a face mask. And I was very excited.

My routine started out with the use of the Klairs Rich Moist Foaming Cleanser. I would apply it to my damp face in circular motions, and then wash it off with lukewarm water. As a principle, I never wash my face with hot water because it encourages the productions of oil which could lead to breakouts.

The next step in the skincare routine was the facial toner. I would apply a pea-sized amount of it to my freshly washed face. I would just gently dab it into my skin.

Next up was the facial oil which was to be followed by Klairs Rich Moist Soothing Cream.

I knew that no product could make my skin perfect overnight. So I decided to try these products out for at least three months before I gave my final verdict. A month into the routine, I didn’t notice too much of a difference visually but my skin felt a lot better to myself. It did not feel parched and taut like it did usually since I have dry skin and most moisturizers don’t work. But the Klairs one did wonders; I didn’t need to reapply it during the day at all. Even in the winters.

About 1.5 months into the routine, I noticed a lot of differences. The biggest difference being that the pimple marks I struggled with were starting to disappear slowly but surely. Other than that I always had the fresh-faced feeling you get after a facial just by using my own skincare products daily.

Two months into it, I honestly felt like my skin had a subtle glow. I had not had a pimple in a while and I was honestly very happy with the result of the products. I was in Karachi when the second month had started and I was worried about what the humidity would do to my skin. But every time I used my cleansing foam I honestly felt like it unclogged every pore so I wouldn’t lose my ‘glow’.

And at the end of the three months, I was a changed woman; I knew that Korean skincare is the way to go. It had really suited my skin well. The face masks were a nice once-a-month treat that I still use time and again.

The items slowly started running out after about 4 months which meant I had to place another order. Since Korean skincare isn’t cheap; I thought of only reordering the two things which I felt made the most difference; the cleansing foam and the soothing cream.

At this point it has been about 6-7 months since I have been using Korean skincare while currently, I do have a few pimples I think it has more to do with the insanely hot weather and my own hormones than the skincare; if anything the skincare routine has probably kept it from getting worse.

My advice to you would be to do your research and find the products suitable for your skin type because trust me, it will be worth it to find your holy grail. I would totally recommend trying Korean skincare once since it is well suited to Pakistani skin as well. Well, at least in my experience.
