It wouldn’t be inaccurate to say that Iqbal Day holiday is a big concern for lazy Pakistanis everywhere. After the Interior Ministry was reported last year to have cancelled the holiday.
There was celebration after a notification was circulated that the holiday had been restored

All of this has obviously created a lot of confusion.

People are furious for the government having stolen their extra sleep on the day of the birth of one of the greatest philosophers Asia, and quite possibly the world, has ever seen.
Many are also calling it a yahoodi saazish
My amma had officially labelled the cancellation of Iqbal Day holiday as yahoodi sazish

Conspiracy theories are flying around about the cancellation
"Since Javed Iqbal's sons have joined PTI may be that's why the government canceled Iqbal Day holiday" Overheard in the High Court.

People are questioning political leaders instead of government officials about the cancellation of the holiday

This guy needs a holiday to recognize his “great HERO” because he’s probably otherwise too overworked to be able to do so.
People really, really wanted to celebrate Iqbal with a holiday, maybe so that they could read his groundbreaking work, in peace
wtf no hliday on "Iqbal Day"this govt is screwing our culture and has no respect for our heroes

Federal Govt. disrespected Iqbal Day once again 😦
— Shubman (@Mathan4u) November 8, 2016
This guy really knows how those getting a holiday will be “celebrating” the day
Tomorrow we will celebrate iqbal day holiday with full zeal but we will not read none of his poetry..#iqbalday #onlyholiday #thinkiqbal
— Hunzokutz (@RazaqHunzai) November 8, 2016
So this one came up with a plan to ensure that the holiday is utilized effectively
Jis jis ko Asrar-e-Khudi Kay baray mai thora bohot pata Ho sirf usi ko Iqbal Day ki chutti honi chahiyay.#iqbalday
— talha (@Tallhhaa_) November 8, 2016
People have also turned poets to commemorate the cancellation of the holiday
Ay Iqbal hum sharminda hain
Teri chhitti ke qatil zinda hain
Iqbal Day
— Danyal Zaffar (@DanyalBandesha) November 8, 2016
This honest dude has come forward with a genuine request
Yaar Iqbal Day ki chutti de do. Mujhe gari sahi karwani hai 🙁
— Adeel Amin (@adeelamin15) November 8, 2016
But mostly, people have this one question:
