TikTok star Jannat Mirza, over the course of her rapidly growing career, has made quite a name for herself on all social media platforms.
With 14.1 million fans of TikTok and 2.1 million followers on Instagram at the time of writing this article, Jannat has claimed many social media spheres as her own.
The audience seems to find her content engaging, and while Jannat has unfortunately experienced her fair share of controversy or online beef, she’s managed to keep her head high and pull through.
Being a social media star, especially one that has shot to fame in such a short amount of time, cannot be easy. Social media comes with its own set of trials and tribulations which can greatly impact one’s mental health. Pair that up with an ongoing pandemic, and it would not be far too presumptuous to come to the conclusion that one’s mental health may be impacted detrimentally.
However, to be able to take to one’s platform and talk about their mental health issues is also refreshing, for mental health has long been a taboo in Pakistan, and a conversation around the same is essential.
Jannat Mirza, too, has spoken up about her mental health in a surprisingly candid manner.
In a series of stories, Jannat Mirza has opened up about her mental health struggles.
In a rather shocking confession that many would shy away from, Jannat Mirza writes, “I went through a lot of emotions this week! I was thinking to end myself!”
However, she quickly goes on to thank God and the month of Ramazan for saving her and instilling her with hope. She goes on to state that life is short and should not be ruined for or over anyone else. She even encourages people to start thinking about themselves first, being selfish if and when necessary.
In a rather cryptic tweet, she states that the old Jannat Mirza is gone forever. She also states that from now on, “ek hasti khelti Jannat nazar ayegi.”
Lastly, she encourages one and all to have faith in God.
While Jannat Mirza’s words are equal parts surprising and refreshing, one can only hope that whatever it is that got her to this point gets better soon. Social media stars, when being honest about their mental health, encourage others to acknowledge their own mental health struggles.
An important part of one’s mental health journey is also seeking professional help, which no one should shy away from. If you, or anyone you know, are struggling mentally, especially during this hard time, please reach out and seek professional help.
As for Jannat, we at MangoBaaz wish her all the best, and pray for her well-being.
