It took one photo of actress Mahira Khan holding a cigarette on the streets of New York to unleash social havoc and mayhem.
The actress was subjected to a whirlwind of criticism, verbal abuse, and harsh judgment. Celebrities rushed to her defense, and Pakistani spotlight fell sharply on the actress. While actor Ranbir Kapoor, who too was present in the pictures gave a statement that urged allowing Mahira liberation in her personal life, Mahira had yet to comment on it all.

Mahira was recently at an event to unveil the trailer for her upcoming film ‘Verna’ and was engaging in a press meet shortly afterward
News channel Samaa Television approached her for a quick interview, with the journalist asking her to comment on “that picture with Ranbir.” Mahira responded “mein kya comment kar sakti hoon?” And went on to declare “it was a personal thing…I’ve learned from it.” She expressed how otherwise she is “a very careful person,” and also described how people have approached her to smoke in films, and how she swiftly declined because she didn’t want to do it for anyone.
When asked if the photos were from a “film ka scene,” the actress stepped back and said “these are personal questions” before stating clearly that “it’s very normal for a girl and a guy to hang out”
She went on to say “secondly like I said we’ve all learned from it and we’ve understood that aap loug jo hain” (referring to Pakistani media) are no longer just in Pakistan, but abroad as well. Have a look at the interview below.
