In the aftermath of the Avenfield case, things have been a little crazy. The warrants for the arrest of Maryam Nawaz and Nawaz Sharif have been issued and people are awaiting their return.
In lieu of the arrests of father and daughter, people are drawing comparisons between the Sharifs and Bhuttos.
In particular, people are comparing Maryam Nawaz with Benazir Bhutto
The comparison arose when a video of Maryam Nawaz reciting a line from Habib Jalib’s ‘Nihatti Larki‘ poem was posted online. Jalib wrote the poem for the late Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, when she was returning to Pakistan during Zia’s regime.
They say good poetry is timeless. This politically charged poem was written by Habib Jalib for Benazir Bhutto when she was resisting dictatorship. The wheel of history moves in peculiar, unexpected ways. Yesterday @MaryamNSharif recited these lines after her conviction. pic.twitter.com/3nzmeTLEJR

But some people were not at all happy with the comparison, including Maryam Nawaz herself.

Maryam Nawaz is not Benazir Bhutto. Benazir was a class apart. Also she wasn't papa ki parri.

In this video, she said very clearly, (2:15 into the video) that she is Nawaz Sharif’s daughter and while she respects late Benazir Bhutto, she does not want to be compared to her.

It is appreciable that she isn’t playing into the comparisons, whatever one’s political affiliation everyone has their own identity and political agenda.
What do you think of this comparison between the two women?
