Let me backtrack to December 2018. Saudi Arabia threw a rager in Riyadh under the Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman’s National Transformation program. This program was initiated for people to be able to connect to the youth and this was done through a three-day music festival. People like Enrique Iglesias, Jason Derulo, The Black-Eyed Peas, One Republic, and David Guetta were all in attendance to perform. Also, the concert was the first co-ed concert and it’s safe to say the youth really enjoyed themselves. On the other hand, there was a lot of controversy around the music festival because it went against the traditional norms of the culture and country.
Now let’s come back to the present: Saudi Arabia is having yet another music festival.
This time it will be in Jeddah by the name of Jeddah World Fest, which will take place on July 18. Yes… you read that right, only a few more days and some of the biggest names in the music industry will be gracing the stage in Jeddah.
Entertainers like Liam Payne (One Direction wala) will be in attendance.
Did I mention he has a famous song called “Strip That Down” and he will most likely be performing that at the festival, considering it is one of his most famous songs?

Also performing will be K-Pop groups like Super Junior.
Pakistanis don’t stress, Saudi Arabia is accepting electronic visas to ensure visitors are able to also attend the festival if you want to listen to K-Pop live, I suggest you start booking a ticket now.

Steve Aoki will be bringing all of the festival vibes necessary.
I mean the man will be in charge of the AUX, what else do the people of Saudi need to enjoy themselves?

…and drumroll, please… Nicki Minaj will be performing as well. Like, THE NICKI MINAJ.

She may be a dream to look at and listen to, but she’s the main reason why we are all so very confused.
Okay, let’s get to the nitty-gritty.
Saudi Arabia is a very, I really do mean very, conservative country. A music festival of this size is so unheard of in Saudi due to laws that prevent loud music from being played, but that’s beside the point. Gender segregation is still enforced in many public places. It’s only been a few years since women have been granted permission to drive and attend games at stadiums.
So for Nicki Minaj to be performing at the festival in Jeddah has really thrown everyone for a loop.
Nicki Minaj is known for her racy lyrics, and her truly out of this world fashion sense.
Now, do you get why it’s so confusing?
According to many outlets, women attending the festival will be expected to come dressed in modest, full-length clothing. Umm…so there is a possibility that Nicki Minaj will be performing on stage dressed as she is, and women attending the festival will be expected to come dressed modestly? Okay…some believe that it sounds a wee bit hypocritical.
A lot of people are riled up ever since they heard the news
Saudi Arabia has been accused of hypocrisy after telling women to cover up…. and then hiring sex bomb @NICKIMINAJ to headline a #Saudi music festival. 🍑🍆🇸🇦

Saudi woman says WTF to hypocrisy.
Asks why should she have to dress in the full length Abaya when Nicki Minaj is to play the Jeddah World Fest in Saudi Arabia “and shake her ass and all her songs are indecent and about sex… what the hell?” https://t.co/YgzzAOkd03— Gordon MacMillan (@gordonmacmillan) July 3, 2019
Truly a possibility
Kinda get the feeling that Saudi officials haven't done the due diligence on Nicki Minaj's back catalogue. https://t.co/ya8uB38TEJ

“Unusual move” might be an understatement
Berani Katakan KAFIR/HARAM…?
Saudi Arabia has invited rapper Nicki Minaj to perform this month, an unusual move for the famously conservative kingdom.
