Devastating floods all over Pakistan have made us go 30 years back in the past, this is not good.
Why Are Floods Happening?
Climate change. Climate change is real and it’s happening. Carbon emissions from much more industrialized countries have completely destroyed the ozone layer. Third-world countries such as Pakistan now have to pay the price. Pakistan here got hit first and is facing the consequences.
Over 1,500 people have died in Pakistan as a result of floods since June 2022.
Heavy monsoon rains that were unusually heavy and glaciers that began to melt after a severe heat wave all contributed to the floods, which are all related to climate change. Since the floods in South Asia in 2017, it has caused the most fatalities worldwide and is regarded as the worst flood in the history of the nation. Over 300,000 people are still living in temporary camps, as of August 2022, because of the floods.
Pakistan being an agriculture-based country cannot financially recover from this in the coming decades.
The loss of crops, fields, animals, and lives has been hefty for everyone. The country’s economic leaders, however, have the most difficult task ahead beyond the human losses as floods caused havoc on the country’s road and communication network, wrecked an unimaginable number of homes, and wiped off millions of hectares of crops. The question remains the same; why is the world sleeping on this?
