So last year a Pakistani couple tied the proverbial knot in a hybrid Nikkah/Mehndi ceremony and the whole of twitter was invited. Their wedding has been one of the top trends on Pakistan’s twittersphere for almost two weeks during the wedding.

So who is this couple and what happened at the wedding that trended all over the country’s social media?

Meet Sara

The bride. Sara Muzzammil is a digital marketing executive. She is a partner at The Digital Factory.

And her husband

Adil Awan, the groom, is a social media ninga and a partner at The Digital Factory. Yes, the couple is partners at work and life(#relationshipgoals).

Both, Sara and Adil, are two of the oldest and most popular twitter celebrities in Pakistan. And the news of their wedding has been getting a lot of twitter population’s attention and time.

It all kicked off with the bridal shower

The trend #SaraAurAdil, that has caught the attention of Pakistan’s twitterati for the past fortnight, was born with this tweet.

They sent out this ‘Save the Date’ straight out of a fairytale

Wondering what’s the aversion to boxed gifts, though.

To kick off the pre-wedding events, they had a rung party/dholki event

Where, as the name suggests, everyone was doused in rung and frolicked all night.

From the looks of it, it was one heck of a dholki/party

However, like in all love stories, this one had the baatein karne walay log as well

Some people were angry that they couldn’t enjoy the live feed of the events:

While some were just trying to play their “fairy tale step sister” role:

None of this mattered to the Bride and Groom

Haters gonna’ hate!

They were too engrossed in their celebration to care for the world.

So were their friends.

And then came the day of the Nikkah

Apparently, this was also a Mehndi

And then the bride went away to be made up for the big day.

And the Big Reveal

The beautiful bride:

And here’s the groom:

And then they were joined in matrimony

Wishes started pouring in from everyone on Twitter

And the attendees tweeted about how fun the ceremony was.

Those who couldn’t be there in person were taken care of by the digitally active couple:

Whoa, bored already?

So that’s the story of how the whole of twitter turned up at #SaraAurAdil’s wedding

Well, maybe not the whole of twitter.

Congratulations to the couple, stay happy, guys!
