Unless you live under a rock, news of The Council of Islamic Ideology’s ridiculous women’s protection bill might have reached you. The bill proposed that husbands can “lightly beat” their wives “if needed”.
Other than this ridiculous injecture, the bill also prohibits namehrams hanging out in public spaces and offices, bans co-educational institutes, female nurses attending to male patients, modelling, music, sculpting and other recreational activities under the (god forbid) “haraam” name of art.
A Pakistan based photographer, Fahhad Rajper initiated a photoseries under the hashtag #TryBeatingMeLightly showcasing photos of Pakistani women issuing their reactions to the incredulous bill.
Women from all walks of life in Pakistan participated in the initial photo series, which became a sensation all across the world, prompting many women to share their own thoughts about the initiative.

I am the kind of woman they name hurricanes after. I dare you, #TryBeatingMeLightly
