Yesterday, India played against England in the Cricket World Cup. And a lot of Pakistanis were supporting India in the match because if India won, then Pakistan would have a chance to play in the semi-finals. The Pakistani team’s rocky start in the tournament convinced fans that they would get knocked out in the very early stages.
But after surprising wins, fans once again became hopeful. However, yesterday, India didn’t perform as well as expected and ended up losing the match. And fans on both sides of the borders were upset and confused. More specifically with the performances of former Indian captain MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav.
People thought that Dhoni’s poor performance was purposeful since everyone including commentators refused to accept that this was his actual performance in accordance with his potential.

Even commentators are surprised by India’s run chase effort in last 10 overs. Nasir Hussain and Ganguly even said it is not the Indian team which we have seen in all the previous matches. #INDvENG #indiavsEngland #fixed #Dhoni

And Pakistani fans were disgusted by what they thought was clearly a fixed match.

And Indian fans tried to make things worse by claiming that India did indeed do this on purpose to mess with Pakistan.

And then there were those fans who thought we should stop complaining about India’s alleged match-fixing and focus on winning our own matches instead of depending on the results of matches between other countries to help us qualify for the semi-finals.

Hum khud bhi acha khel sakte thay
What a creepy nation we are !
Khud Kuch kerna nahen&blame game start
even If it was #Fixed #MatchFixing then who are we to question that without being realistic&authentic

The problem with our society: Being dependent on anyone from IMF to Dhoni to Naib. No self-worthiness. If we were praising Gulbadin Naib, then we shouldn't feel salty about Dhoni. Lesson: Never laugh on others' miseries. #Dhoni #CWC19#fixed #MatchFixing#Hypocrisy #INDvENG

While the performances by Dhoni and Jadhav was indeed underwhelming, unless an investigation takes place, no one can say with certainty whether it was intended or just a bad day for them. Do you still think Pakistan can make it to the semi-finals? Let us know in the comments below.
