Former Indian Naval Officer, Kulbhushan Jadhav was sentenced to death by a Pakistani Military Court for espionage and terrorism in 2017 and the two countries are currently fighting a legal battle over it at the ICJ
The case is an important one for both countries, especially because it comes at a time of tense relationships between them.
In the most recent session at ICJ, India’s lawyer presented the judge with an interview snippet of Nawaz Sharif.
In an interview to a leading Pakistani publication, Nawaz Sharif had stated that Pakistan did have a hand in the Mumbai attack. Nawaz’s statement of Pakistan being involved with the Mumbai attacks had caused a lot of hue and cry back when this happened. A case was also registered against Sharif as well as the journalist who had taken that infamous interview with him.
And now that tensions between Pakistan and India are at a high following the Pulwama attack, this could have not been used at a worse time.
Pakistanis have not been taking this knowledge lightly and have started to call Nawaz Sharif a traitor for speaking against the welfare of the country.

We said it then. We say it now. The statement was wrong. The timing was wrong. The intent even more.

The Pulwama attack was a tragic loss felt by both sides of the border. It is clear to everyone that this violence will not cease until and unless we as neighboring nations are able to sit and make decisions to benefit and save the lives of both Pakistan and India.
