While TikTok continues to entertain the masses all over the world, the app is often blamed within snobby circles for what these people refer to “cringe content”. It is also said, by the same haters, that the app has provided an easy way to fame for those without talent. Unfortunately, the hundreds of talented Pakistani TikTokers are frequently criticized for their work and their abilities as performers are severely underestimated.
Pretty much everyone is aware of how haters love to diss on and underestimate the insane talent of Pakistani TikTok stars
People often share TikTok videos on their Instagram or Twitter accounts to troll and claim as if TikTok content is subpar, while using the same TikTok content for all the attention and likes and engagement they can get by leeching off of the hard work of these TikTokers.
One of the Pakistani TikTok stars at the receiving end of this underserving trolling is Areeka Haq
Areeka Haq is one of the most beloved TikTok celebrities in the country. She has a following of more than 4.5 million people on TikTok and she’s also the most followed TikTok star on Instagram.
Recently, people started comparing Areeka Haq with YouTuber Irfan Junejo while asserting that the only reason behind Areeka’s massive following is Pakistani awaam’s tharak
Just to be clear, yes, the comparison was being drawn between a TikTok star and a YouTuber – people with skillset for two very different platforms. Sure, they’re huge stars on their respective platforms but c’mon, that’s like comparing oranges with apples.
Naturally, quite a few Pakistanis agreed that tharak is what draws people to internet celebrities like Areeka Haq
There has also been disdain among some circles of men that women gain more attention on social media because of their “looks”
Some people even had issues with Areeka Haq not posting enough on Instagram and still having almost a million followers
They went on to say that the TikTok star has no talent and still ended up getting overnight fame and popularity. Kuch jalnay ki boo nahi arahi?
Thankfully, there were some sensible folks too who defended the hard work put in by Areeka Haq to attain the social media following that she has
They compared the frequency of posts by Areeka and Junejo while arguing that Areeqa’s posts are based on what has specifically piqued the interest of Instagram audience.
No matter which social media platform is being discussed and no matter which celebrity is being discussed, it should be understood that each platform requires a certain amount of effort and hard work to secure a large fan base for the user. One can find the type of content to not be of their preference but just hating on a social media influencer or a publication for their large following, while disregarding or being unaware of the hard work put in behind that, just makes you a frustrated troll and nothing else.
Moreover, comparisons like the one between Areeka Haq and Irfan Junejo should never be used to discredit the amount of input a user puts in to achieve the status he or she enjoys on a particular platform because they’re two very different types of talented individuals.
