Mai Hoon Sitara is a bop for all sports lovers
Sports in Pakistan have always played an important part in building a community. It is after all, one of the few avenues for entertainment we have. This is why sports personalities hold a special place in our hearts. However, you’d be surprised to learn that until recently we didn’t really have an actual “sports anthem” for Pakistan and this is where Gatorade Pakistan saw the right opportunity to bring us exactly what we needed in the form of Mai Hoon Sitara. Oh yes, Gatorade – the beloved sports drink around the world – has finally, officially been introduced in Pakistan by Pakistan Beverage Limited and PepsiCo.
Mai Hoon Sitara is Pakistan’s first sports anthem presented by world’s number one sports drink Gatorade Pakistan along with Agent Haq and Pakistan Sports Awards
The launch event honored Pakistani sports personalities from a wide range of sports arenas and not just the chosen few, as is usually the case. Held at the Punjab Football Stadium, Gulberg, the event showcased an exclusive premiere of the anthem as part of the launch of Gatorade Pakistan Sports Awards. The awards honor our real-life heroes and inspire future ones to take the stage and follow in their footsteps.
Composer, writer and lead singer of the anthem, Asim Azhar along with featured artistes Aima Baig and Raamis Ali were present at the launch of the sports anthem, Mai Hoon Sitara
Alongside the singers, sports personalities such as Ahmad Shahzad, Aqib Javed, Inam Butt, Afshan Noreen and others were honored at the launch. Renowned figures such as Fawad Hashim, Zahid Qayyum, HSY and Atif Rana also graced the occasion with their presence.
The event was rather distinguishable and unique not only because it is Pakistan’s first sports anthem, but also because this sports event went beyond just cricket, like we mentioned earlier. The anthem acknowledges and honors all types of sports played in Pakistan such as hockey, boxing, kabaddi, squash, snooker, javelin etc. Due to this, the event was very wholesome and one of its own kind.
Mai Hoon Sitara honors the heroes from all sports fraternities and we couldn’t be more proud
The iconic anthem features Mohammad Yasir from Javelin, Najma Parveen for Sprinting, Usman Wazir from Boxing, Ahmad Shahzad from Cricket, and several other notable sports people. The song is an instant serotonin booster which recognizes each sports and simultaneously, empowers women on the grounds.
Featuring vocals from some of the best singers we have on the block – Asim Azhar, Aima Baig and rapper Raamis Ali, Mai Hoon Sitara is a perfect blend of all emotions and spirits. Together, they have created magic in a song. The anthem has right amount of enthusiasm, motivation, uplifting and whole lot of golden memories of Pakistani sports history.
Rapper Raamis Ali’s stellar performance, in particular, has stolen the show and the hearts of people
Raamis’s rap is a sweet jog down the memory lane that one would happily take over and over again. People are all praises for the mesmerizing part of the rapper and appreciate that the anthem has taken an unconventional route by adding rap to it.
“Lala aur pindi express ka junoon jesay..”
Loved it…

Asim Azhar and Aima Baig are no less, looking absolutely dapper while showing us – yet again – how gifted their vocals are
We are forever a fan of their singing but we cannot deny how cool these two look while rocking the anthem.
May we just add that the anthem also has amazing cinematography and visuals. The anthem is a perfect mixture of everything and we are over the moon that this spectacular piece has the honor of being the first sports anthem of Pakistan.
