Punjab University students finally had an event with both music and dancing!
Punjab University has been in the limelight more often than not for fights that break out on campus between different factions. A lot of times its those from Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba, the student wing for a right wing party tussling with other students who they deem to not be behaving according to their moral standards.
Punjab University just had its first musical event in more than 30 years
Because of the fascist influence of IJT on campus there has been an unofficial ban on such events for many Years. The IJT tend to get away with a lot of attacks and have a big say in campus policy and one of the things the IJT made sure never happened were events where there would music and dancing.
But after 30 years, it finally happened! Students had a cultural night where there was both music and dancing. And honestly, it was heart-warming to see.
Historic day at Punjab University. After more than 3 decades, students organized a cultural night with music and dance. Event took place week after an attack on students by IJT.
It is a welcome reversal to the overall tendency of conservatism on campuses. #StudentPower https://t.co/19WGBqx1q1

Everyone’s so glad to see students at Punjab University finally enjoying themselves
After 30 years of being terrorized by the IJT on campus an event with music and dancing could not have even been imagined.
Happy for all those breathing into fresh air.

My heart filled with joy by watching this video of cultural night at Punjab University, Lahore. All the students’ Councils have united against the fascist Jamiat to bring this day where everyone have the right to celebrate his culture. A few people did notice that there were no female students in the video that was shared on social media
But oh well, that’s understandable. Baby steps for now.

Naturally, there were a lot of people who were upset by the fact that this music and dancing might be “ruining our culture”
Honestly, what’s the big deal? Events like these are common in universities all across the country so why can’t students at Punjab University also have the same experiences and enjoy their time at university.

Universities being ruled by extremist factions which try to enforce their own view on the student body is completely unacceptable. The fact that this event happened without incident or an attack from IJT goons, is a step towards progress and will hopefully bring a new era of acceptance and co-existence on Punjab University’s campus.
