Sehri is a pretty big deal. Being the last meal you have before an entire day of fasting, it needs to be good and fulfilling. What better than the foodie city of Pakistan, Lahore, for a hearty Sehri? Some of Lahore’s finest Sehris can be found on the street with some that you can find on the high street.
Gawalmandi ke chanay
Well, there isn’t a specific place at Gawalmandi where you should go for chanay because they all are so, so good! So yes, you will have a market full of options to choose from, but one tip, always eat where the line is the longest.
Pardesi Parathay
Right at the end of edge of Food Street you can find some of the finest stuffed parathas in town. The place is confusingly named Pardesi Paratha but no matter the name, their parathas mean business. Customer favorites include the aloo and qeema parathay.
The Cafe Upstairs
If you want to walk on the high street side this is an option not to be missed. They offer both desi and velayti. So the best of both worlds really.
Chaaye Khana
Hands down one of the finest French Toasts you will get anywhere in Lahore. And what better way to start a roza than a decadently sugary French Toast.
Butler’s Chocolate Cafe
If you sweet tooth is velayti you can always check out Butler’s for Sehri. Who said Sehri has to be salan roti? You could order a stuffed chicken from Butlers, their huge variety of crepes or anything chocolaty at this place to satisfy your hunger.
Monal
This place is good for the view. The food, though not extraordinary, is decent. If you want Sehri with a view, well there’s no better place than right here.
Feeqay ki lassi
How could this not be on the list? Feeqa is truly a Lahori classic, and perfect for Sehri in his zalim garmi.
Cosa Nostra
One word: Waffles. *drools*
Dera
If Sajji plucks your heart strings then there is no place like Dera. And guess what, they even deliver.
Muhammadi Nihari
As the name suggests, they make some killer Nihari. If you like a meaty start to your roza, this is the place to go.
Grato Jalebi
Its hard to pinpoint the actual Grato but all of them are as good. Nothing beats a fresh jalebi with all its sheera goodness dripping.
Phaja Siri Paye
If you’re one of those people who can’t live without Siri Paye then Phaja is the place for you. It’s not a restaurant, its an institution! (Thora zyada hogaya?)
Benazir Kulfa
And to top all that glutonous indulgence off with something cool, you’ve got the desi ice-cream to finish your Sehri with. Sometimes you just need to satisfy that sweet tooth and considering its crazy hot during the day, there is nothing better than a bowl of kulfi.
With this list in hand, make the most out of what remains of the month.
