It’s so easy to trigger Pakistanis, but it won’t be the massacre of the minorities in the country and certainly not the hate-speech. Bring a woman into picture, and the slightest of moves will cause a frenzy. Leaving aside the constant urge to point out the discrepancies in the matters, a recent video on social media has caused quite a frenzy on social media.
This video of students participating in an event has triggered more than a few “honorable” Pakistanis
Mind you, this is a four years old video. But who gives a crap about that?
People did not hold back in their comments about this “disgusting” video
We have yet another chance of moral policing those poor folks, who have to be “answerable” for something they might have left so far behind
The video was posted on a Facebook page highlighting that it was in Islamabad but without any mention of the fact that this is an old video
Facebook has become quite the hub of people spewing their hate on anything and everything.
From commenting on their moral compass to accusing them of being “libtards” – no decency was shown while commenting. It clearly does not matter to them that it was just a bunch of students enjoying the attan dance. What matters is that there were men and women together and nobody can digest that.
Very conveniently our people seem to forget the fact that dance is a very integral part of our culture.
We may have become influenced by and adopted the Arab identity identity recently but in the Indian culture dance is very significant.
The reason why these dance exist or people have knowledge about them is because they have a history attached to them. But who doesn’t enjoy moral policing every now and then? Clearly not us!
We contacted one of the participants in the video and they confirmed that the video is four years old. According to them, the video only makes them nostalgic. This was shot after a cricket match between two colleges and the video made a lot of people relive their college days. To twist that information around and point fingers at them is wrong. While yes, this is not a very good attempt at attan. Who cares? The kids were having some fun.
