Mission and Vision
The Noor Project (TNP) envisions a world where poverty no longer holds families back, and communities thrive through self-reliance. TNP’s mission is to empower individuals and families to lift themselves out of poverty by providing them with the skills, resources, and support necessary for long-term success. They aim to tackle the root causes of poverty by creating sustainable change, focusing on comprehensive programs that span essential aspects of life. By aligning with Eight of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), TNP ensures a holistic and impactful approach to community development.

The Problem

Located in Khaliqabad, TNP operates in a region surrounded by 32 villages with a population of over 440,000 people, most of whom live below the poverty line. These communities face an array of challenges—chronic food insecurity, lack of education, inadequate healthcare, and insufficient opportunities for economic empowerment. Without strategic interventions, families struggle to break free from the cycle of poverty.

The Noor Project: A Journey from Survival to Self-Sustainability

TNP’s approach is structured around a simple yet profound idea: empower families to become self-reliant. Rather than offering temporary relief, TNP’s programs are designed to address the underlying issues that keep families trapped in poverty. From hunger relief to education, healthcare, shelter, and beyond, TNP guides beneficiaries on a journey that starts with meeting their basic needs and leads to lasting economic independence.

  1. Hunger Relief: Laying the Foundation for Stability

The first step in TNP’s journey for families is ensuring they have access to basic nutrition. Hunger often prevents families from focusing on other areas of development, making food security a priority. The hunger relief programs include:

  • Community Kitchens (Noor Feeding Center): TNP operates kitchens that serve free, nutritious meals to individuals and families in need, ensuring that hunger is no longer a barrier to progress.
  • Food Distribution Campaigns (Food Bank): Food distribution drives are organized regularly to provide essential supplies to struggling households as well as providing free rations to 350+ families each month.
  • Noor Izzat ki Roti: The Noor Project’s commitment to holistic development is evident in their additional programs. The Noor Izzat Ki Roti program provides free bread at local tandoors across Lahore to marginalized communities.

By providing consistent and reliable access to food, TNP alleviates the immediate pressures on families, allowing them to focus on building their future.

  1. Education: Building the Future, One Child at a Time

TNP recognizes education as the cornerstone of long-term poverty alleviation. Their educational programs are designed to break the intergenerational cycle of poverty by equipping children and adults with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed.

  • Noor Grammar School: TNP operates a school that offers free primary and secondary education to children in underserved areas. This school is a safe haven where students receive not only academic education but also life skills.
  • Scholarship Programs: For students with academic potential, TNP assists with scholarships to help them pursue higher education and professional degrees, opening doors to better career opportunities.
  • Noor Technical and Vocational Training Institute: Recognizing that poverty often affects adults who missed out on education, TNP provides literacy programs for adults. Vocational training in areas like carpentry, tailoring, and technology helps beneficiaries develop skills for gainful employment.

Through these initiatives, TNP ensures that education becomes the bedrock of a sustainable future for families, providing them with opportunities to rise above their circumstances.

  1. Healthcare: Sehat Sabka Haq (Healthcare is Everyone’s Right)

TNP’s healthcare program operates on the principle that access to healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Health issues often exacerbate poverty, so TNP’s healthcare services are designed to prevent and treat illnesses that could otherwise trap families in a cycle of medical debt and missed opportunities.

  • In-House Health Clinic and Hospital Services: Their in-house clinic and newly established hospital provide essential healthcare services, including routine medical checkups, vaccinations, and treatment for common ailments, directly accessible to the local community.
  • Maternal and Child Health: A focus on maternal and child health ensures that women have access to prenatal care, safe deliveries, and immunization for their children, addressing one of the most vulnerable segments of the population.

  • Preventive Health Education: Regular workshops are held to teach communities about hygiene, disease prevention, and proper nutrition, empowering them to take control of their health.
  • Noor Memorial Trust Hospital: Serving as a cornerstone project in Khaliqabad and 32 surrounding villages, Noor Memorial Trust Hospital offers comprehensive healthcare services to meet the needs of the wider community.

TNP’s healthcare program is committed to ensuring that no family is left behind when it comes to accessing the medical services, they need to lead healthy, productive lives.

  1. Shelter: A Safe Haven for Vulnerable Girls

Poverty disproportionately affects women and girls, making them vulnerable to exploitation. To address this, TNP has established the Noor Girls Home, a shelter dedicated to providing a secure, nurturing environment for 80+ girls who are at risk.

  • Safe and Secure Living: The Girls Home offers a protective and supportive space for orphan or at-risk girls, where they are provided with nutritious meals, education, and emotional care.
  • Holistic Development: In addition to meeting their basic needs, the girls receive personal development training, counseling, and vocational skills to prepare them for a life of independence.
  • Empowerment through Education: TNP ensures that every girl in their care receives a quality education, enabling them to break free from the cycle of poverty and become self-reliant.

By providing shelter, education, and emotional support, TNP helps vulnerable girls build brighter, more secure futures for themselves.
