I am happy to share with you my story—the story of my strange addiction and how it took over my life.
Before I narrate my success story, I would like to introduce myself.
My name is Sabbeen Sheikkh and I live in Toronto, Canada. I am an entrepreneur, the owner of Sabbskin Canada, a skincare brand that aims to deliver high-efficacy products. Through my skincare brand, I want to help people to restore the youth and vitality they lose over time due to blue light, environmental exposure, and aging. I invite you to check out our products on our website, www.sabbskin.com.pk if you’re in Pakistan, and www.sabbskin.com if you live abroad.
Looking back on my young age, I vividly recall and reflect on my first addiction– an insatiable craving for achievement. For me, It was the first step toward achieving my goals. I embarked on the journey toward the thirst for achievement. I surprised myself by winning the prestigious Student of the Year award as a 13-year-old girl. Since then, I have been captivated and motivated to achieve something big, chasing that next high.
As a result, throughout high school and college, I chased success relentlessly. I successfully collected accolades and took leadership roles in various organizations.
Topping the entire country and earning gold medals for my accomplishments, I completed my Chartered Accountancy degree on the first attempt. This wasn’t it. I also completed Law with a gold medal. Pursuing my thirst for achievement, I embarked on a journey up the corporate ladder, eventually reaching the position of Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Board.
During my journey of self-discovery, I fell in love with skincare. This made me realize my true purpose, also making me feel empowered. This newfound passion for mindful skincare led me to where I am today: CEO of Sabbskin Canada, my very own skincare brand, which recently turned two this July 6th.
A success story, right?
While my achievements might make it seem like a success story, I’m sure many of you can relate to the game we often play as women. As women aspiring to empowerment, we strive to conquer the pinnacle of success while juggling multiple responsibilities. We manage our careers, care for our children, support our families, nurture our relationships, tend to our friendships, care for our pets, volunteer our time, and strive to be present in every aspect of our lives. We strive to shatter glass ceilings as if we have no familial obligations and care for our families as if we have no professional commitments.
In this constant whirlwind of activity, we accept every challenge, overcome every obstacle, and tend to define our self-worth based on the number of achievements we accumulate. Our lives become consumed by constant activity. We are unfamiliar with slowing down or uttering the word “no.” Living in this manner inevitably leads to overwhelming feelings. So, are you truly living, or are you merely surviving? Even though you yearn for relief, you are unsure how to halt this relentless cycle.
And this cycle is followed by many men in the quest for achievement and perfection.
Maybe we let go of being addicted to these. We may accept ourselves wherever we are in this perfect generous present moment. This will make us feel true empowerment!
Because yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift, and that’s why it’s called the present.
Thank you for taking out time to listen to my story!
Gratefully,
Sabbeen Sheikkh
