Meet Ansub Nadeem, an architect by profession and an illustrator by choice.

Ansub’s illustrations aren’t of your normal day-to-day mundane happenings. This guy throws the basic concept of design in the back and lets his wild imagination take the front seat.

Here’s a building in a world where he imagines everything is made out of edible gum.

Very Willy Wonka, isn’t it?

In this illustration, there are two perspectives of nature; the sky is in its natural form while the trees are made out of gum. Here’s when the reality collides with a hint of fantasy.

His imagination is a palette of bright colors, playing with the form he throws in color in the mix in all his illustrations.

Bold colors like red and purple can be seen as an expression of emotion or state of mind. As everyone’s perception differs, here the color red can be seen as a notion of love or rage.

Ansub’s illustrations also tend to dig deeper into the concept of perception…

The same building is shown in the light of two different times, one situated under a starry night and the other situated under curtains of a black sky.

It is interesting to see Ansub create illustrations based on a single object that catches his eye.

We are in awe after discovering that one of Ansub’s illustrations came to life while working on a project for a Pakistani lawn brand.

An 80’ tall void in the heart of the building bathed in dripping gold with illuminated objects floating in the air

He also takes inspiration from places in Morocco, a country which is very close to his heart.

While speaking to MangoBaaz, Ansub shares that he lets emotions from the time he was in a certain place flow through and later translates them into illustrations. Using his own aesthetic of course.

For example, take this image of the blue streets of Chefchaouen.

Now, let’s take a look at the same Streets of Chefchaouen through the illustrator’s eyes.

The person in the illustration may or may not be Ansub, but regardless of who it is, he seems quite happy to be roaming around these streets.

The little flower pots on the walls give more life to the illustration. The colors and objects are blended together to give off quite an optimistic vibe.

Here’s another: a flower-covered building in Marrakech.

We spy a divine handcrafted mosaic in Ansub’s representation of the building in Marrakech.

The little doorway below the pink flowers is a sight to see. Brb, planning a trip to Morocco after looking at these illustrations.

While speaking to MangoBaaz, Ansub shares how a client’s story of how he met his wife on a white yacht ended up being depicted through an illustration of their home.

(You’ve got to agree, that’s utterly sweet)

The pool in the house brings back memories from the day onboard the yacht sailing across blue waters. Still, as in love as the day he was when he met her, he comes home with a flower in his hand to the woman who is now his wife.

You can take a look at Ansub’s wild illustrations here. There’s a lot more to look at and appreciate!
