After the terrorist attack at Karachi airport in 2014, all airports in the country had amped up their security and had very strict rules about how many people per car were allowed inside the premises among other changes in security protocol. But clearly, things have started to get lax again as depicted by an incident of two men being shot dead outside the international arrivals lounge in Lahore earlier today.

According to reports, two men who were arriving back in Lahore after performing Umrah, were brutally shot dead right outside the Allama Iqbal International Airport’s arrival lounge.

According to Dawn, SP Cantt Safdar Raza Qazi says that initial investigations show that this was over a personal dispute and one of the suspects has already been arrested but their details have not been made public information.

After the incident took place, the security at the airport was immediately beefed up but honestly, it proved to be too little too late.

The entire incident leaves a huge question mark over airport security. The fact that this happened on Allama Iqbal International Airport premises is shocking. This shows that a breach in security at the airport can be orchestrated quite easily since the alleged gun-men had gone through the security checks.

And of course, people are concerned about the security at the airport now.

Concerns about airports around the country started popping up.

Honestly, the entire incident is incredibly horrifying. One would think that the airport has better security than this. To have let in automatic weapons through the airport entrance is a huge breach in security and should not be taken lightly. Considering there are so many checks before you enter premises and this incident still happened, really makes you question the legitimacy of the entire security detail.
