Kareena Kapoor is confident, outspoken and might come across as a wee bit of an arrogant little lady. But hey, she’s always been like that, and while we’ve grown accustomed to her rather ‘effervescent’ personality off-screen, the actress has dug her own grave in a recent comment she made regarding her stance on feminism.
Kareena was at the music launch of her upcoming film ‘Veere Di Wedding’ when she stated that she does NOT see herself as a feminist…but…wait for it…believes in equality
According to publication ‘Hindustan Times,’ the actress stated that:
“I believe in equality. I wouldn’t say I am a feminist, I would say I am a woman above all, I am a human being.”The actress went on to say that “I am also proud to be known as Saif Ali Khan’s wife, as I am to be Kareena Kapoor. So that is just the way I am.”
Here’s the question asked by the reporter, to which Kareena hesitated before responding
This comment set social media ablaze, with many condemning her lack of knowledge on what feminism actually meant
The controversial and rather oxymoronic statement has angered many because she literally said she does believe in equality, but she’s not a feminist…EVEN THOUGH SHE IS BECAUSE SHE BELIEVES IN EQUALITY.
People are livid at what she said, and Twitter decided to teach her a few lessons on the misleading statement she made
Hey Kareena, is this what you ACTUALLY meant? #Feminism #KareenaKapoorKhan #VeereDiWeddingMusicLaunch pic.twitter.com/wHLgRyZg2f

People just couldn’t handle such a silly remark
"I believe in equality but I'm not a feminist" says Kareena Kapoor. The number of errors in this one sentence is mindblowing. I'm gonna go nap

Reporter to Kareena Kapoor when asked about her idea of feminism and if she is one-
Kareena: Well, I believe in equality. I won’t say I’m a feminist. I’d say that I’m a woman. And above all, I’m a human being.

It's 2018 and we have a Kareena Kapoor say, 'I believe in equality of genders, but I am not a feminist'. How long before women in positions of influence educate themselves? Is that really too much to ask!

Being a #feminist means believing in and fighting for EQUALITY. The goal of #feminism is "to define, establish, and achieve political, economic, personal, and social equality of sexes." (Wiki) Kareena Kapoor definitely needs to have a better understanding of the term. https://t.co/L8zyWqvhoJ

Lol Kareena Kapoor Khan's "I'm not a feminist, I'm a woman & I believe in equality" is exactly what's wrong in understanding the concept of feminism. It's not an anti-men, parade, bro. Chill tf out.
