So, model Sadaf Kanwal and actress Saba Qamar wore two similar, ordinary and loose-fitted shalwar kameez on two separate occasions. At a particular epoch where we’re experimenting with our looks, both our ethnic and western counterparts, it shouldn’t really come as a shock anymore if someone swings their style a little differently. However, it’s been a bit of a concern regarding this particular case.
Pakistani magazine ‘Niche Lifestyle’ posted a picture of both celebrities…
And captioned their look as…
Really guys?…’Borrowed from the boys! Our favorite girls making menswear look fresh af…’??????????
They’re LITERALLY just wearing a shalwar kameez. Nothing ‘menswear’ about it tbh…
Other pages followed, terming the new ‘menswear’ look (even though it’s just a shalwar kameez that isn’t gender specific AT. ALL)
Comments have been ruthless, with many mocking the celebrities in the utmost horrific manner…
Uncomfortable and incredibly upsetting with many belittling the attire…
A few have declared it a sign of the end of the world (okay then)
And several gnawing through with a heated discussion around gender equality
(Also sadly proving that a vast majority of our awaam have no idea what they’re talking about)
Others are glad this is more ‘covered up’ so it won’t induce harassment
…So it won’t catalyze the #metoo campaign (FFS)
THEY ARE LITERALLY WEARING JUST A NORMAL SHALWAR KAMEEZ. LIKE COME ON GUYS, REALLY?
There were just a few levelheaded comments (thankfully)
What are your thoughts on all the reactions?
