Yesterday Pakistan lost its greatest human being, Abdul Sattar Edhi. Edhi Sahab was known nation and worldwide for his exceptional philanthropy. He was truly a man of the people.
Following his death, many calls were made for a full state funeral and the wishes of the people were granted. Edhi Sahab’s funeral prayers were shifted from Memon Masjid to Nation Stadium. Thus now his funeral was to be attended by the powerful.
Unfortunately, the VIP culture deprived many from attending the funeral prayers at National Stadium

Janaza of the simplest man was hijacked by VVIPs. Many citizens couldn't reach because of the protocols.

The Aam Aadmi had to go through many security checks and at times were completely barred from entering the premises.
Your banal craze for validation of Edhi by the powerful has led to his funeral being inaccessible to whom he devoted his life; the poor.

Two members of his own family, his son and grandson stood in the first row, but that too not too comfortably.
Edhi's grandson couldn't stand in the front row of his own grandfather's funeral. This country and its love for VIPs makes me sick

For a man who lived a simple life, without protocol and without the showsha of power, this funeral proved the opposite of what he would have truly wanted.
Road blocked outside national stadium for VIP movement. #Edhi sahab wouldnt have wanted this pic.twitter.com/hgW2zddeGQ

The irony of giving a man like Eidhi Sahab a State funeral laced with VIP & security barricades is something that shouldn't be lost on us 🙁

It is incredibly heartbreaking that those who Edhi Sahab devoted his life to were unable to be part of his last rituals simply due to the VIP culture that exists in our society.
However, this event should only motivate us further as a nation to strive to be like Edhi Sahab and thus to continue on his mission.

That is a far better legacy and tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi than any state funeral.
Rest in Power Edhi. To The Heaven You May Return.
