Do you know about Oxford Dictionary? Yes, that same one your English teacher made you buy in class 6 and you just put it in one corner of your house and never opened again. Well, Oxford Dictionary has announced the ‘Word of the Year’, like it does every year.

So what is this year’s ‘Word of the Year’?

This

Yes, I kid you not. The Oxford Dictionary, home of difficult words and nightmare of children across Pakistan in English dictation tests, has announced an emoji as their ‘Word of the Year. An Emoji. They actually tried to make a phrase out of it and have called it the ‘Tears of Joy Emoji’ but we all know it is no word at all. It is our favorite Whatsapp tool to use when a friend shares the lamest joke ever.

People all around the world were obviously shocked about it. And this is what everyone had to say about the ‘Word of the Year’ for 2015:

This person is sad for our children

This guy is afraid his food may be taken away after his words

This person cannot spell even an emoji correctly

This lady who is concerned for world peace

And this person who is just done with this world

Maybe someone needs to tell this girl that “this” is not the word of the year

This person who is so shocked they have forgotten all about hygiene

This guy knows what Oxford is trying to do

And this guy has a better suggestion for the Word of the Year

This guy just sums it up perfectly

And finally, this person has the most valid point
